The Mile

My life is a bit twisted lately. I don’t even know where to begin. My auntie passed away a few days ago, my brother was sent to the hospital, my mom has been ill for quite a while now, and I got food poisoning. School and work also add a lot of stress on me. In addition, me and Kingsley is going on a break. At the end of the day when I feel so tired, the one person I count on the most can not understand or give me strength and courage to carry on. It’s quite sad…

I’m sorry that this update is a bit emo. I’ll make it up with lots of pictures alright? I went to sf zoo and golden gate park for a class project. So there’s a lot of pictures I want to share. I also noticed that I a get tons of visitors every day, even when I don’t update. But the sad part is that I rarely get any comment. I would really appreciate if you guys drop me a line because it’ll makes me happy. So don’t be shy. =)

The Mile: People come into our lives and walk with us a mile, and then because of circumstance they only stay a while. They serve a need within the days that move so quickly by, and than are gone beyond our reach, we often wonder why. God only knows the reason that we meet and share a smile, why people come into our lives and walk with us a mile.”

  1. I read this blog entry, and . . . it left me with an urge to write . . .

This reminds me of when I was studying away from home and discovered that my mother had gotten so sick that she passed out outside the doctor’s office after being examined by him. She was transferred by ambulance to the ICU, which was ironically within the same building complex. I was studying in another country (which was another horror story altogether), and by the time one of my friends had told me about my mother’s condition, she had already been in the ICU for about a week. I immediately called my family that night to inquire of her condition and ask why no one in my family had bothered to tell me about it. How unforgettable and unexpected was their reasoning. They explained that they wanted me to remain focused on my studies, so they decided to wait until my mother’s condition would worsen before contacting me. They even became extremely upset with me for keeping in touch with friends back home, which greatly disappointed me because it was the only way to help me cope with the stressors of a new life. I lost contact with everyone at home for weeks. The situation for me was lose-lose. If I had decided to call or not to call home, I would have met the same disappointment in either case.

That time alone for me left a poignant memory and a deep learning experience. I could only pray and wait. And the suffering of waiting was probably the most difficult thing to endure.

Ooops . . . I almost forgot about commenting on your photos. Please allow me to freely comment . . . Some of your best ones, in my opinion, were the close-up views of the plants, whose natural tones offered a great contrast in each photo. You chose good subjects for the photos. And I like the camera angles of the building structures as well. However, I do notice that the camera did not adjust well for the sunlight, which was too bright in some of the pictures. On the other hands, as I notice sakura in the background, it confirms that you recently took these pictures. And I may be biased in this respect, but sakura always looks nice.

I enjoyed reading “The Mile” quote, despite the emo tone of it, especially towards the end. In fact, it reminds me of another story in my life . . . But anyway . . . I believe that sometimes we need to go another extra mile, if not for ourselves, but for the sake of others.

Be encouraged. Keep that smile as you did in the photos (as well as that miniscule smiley face at the bottom of this blog sheet). Your family may be looking to you for strength as well. I realize this is a tough situation for you. During my ordeal, my friend told me that “things will get better,” although everything seemed to be headed in the wrong direction at the time. However, time proved him right. And I hope that this will hold true for you as well.

  2. beautiful pictures.
    world is beautiful.
life is indeed beautiful as well
smile, as the sun will keep on shining.
